World Wide Pizza Service (WWPS), the
Jesus Freaks missions work, will meet
in Cologne on March 1th, to plan their
activities for 2008. Everyone who
wants to visit and encourage friends
and Freaks in foreign countries is invited.
During the meeting we want to
collect and structure ideas, we want to
build networks and start making concrete
preparations. WWPS is part of a
world-wide network of churches and
groups with a similar vision and is held
together by friendships. “We learn from
each other, inspire one another and we
are there for each other,” says Rebecca
Müller from WWPS. Registration, questions,
and, if necessary, accommodation:

Middle of December the server rented
by JFI was hacked, which caused the
JFI server to attack other servers. The
new supervisor of the web team, Frank
Bindrich, informed us that the recovery
did not bring about any improvement
because of the flawed backup so that
the server provider shut it down on December
24th, 2007 due to other attacks.
On January 4th, 2008 the server was
handed over again. The new setup was
done without any backups this time,
only the data of charta.jesusfreaks.de,
jesusfreak.de and freakstock.de were
resumed. Meanwhile the most important
pages are online again, although
not to their full extent yet. Some of the
e-mails which were sent to the affected
domains got lost.
The JFI web team is a group of volunteers
responsible for the functioning
of the JFI web pages, e-mail addresses
and other services. They are still looking
for people who would like to manage
one of the pages. You should have a
Wordpress blog, be able to write and
receive e-mails as well as be willing
to learn new things and able to spare
some time. We further need people who
would like to develop web pages – be it
as a programmer, designer or someone
who is familiar with content management
systems. If you want to help but
do not have the ability you can support
the web team financially. Donations

The Council is supposed to lead the
Jesus Freaks movement back to their
roots and point out into which direction
they could go in the future. The
official Council meetings began in February
2007 in the different regions of
Germany and Austria. During the first
Council meeting in Reichenbach in May
2007, we compiled minutes on topics
such as vision, identity, leadership, and
structure. A practice team was elected
in June 2007. They worked the Council
minutes into a charter, made a summary
and presented a first draft in October
2007. Many people in the movement
needed more time in order to grasp
the different aspects and think about
them, so the charter was not ratified at
this meeting. Since then you can contact
the practice team about change
requests and vote for them online. The
practice team has agreed to continue
their work until the next charter meeting
in March 2008.
The main burden of the Council process
has been carried by the practice team
from the very beginning. The team consists
of Fabse Backhaus, Markus Hacker,
Patrizia Nusko, Ronald Stahn, Anne and
Jonathan Rauhut (Andrea Graf left in
September 2007). For the Council, they
have all put aside many things in their
life - also earning money. Therefore,
the directorate feels obliged to compensate
for parts of this sacrifice and
to cover some of the costs within the
financial possibilities. Until the end of
2007, there was a donation from America
available for this, but this money is
now used up. Therefore, please help to
recognize also financially the practice
team‘s commitment. Send donations

The MacLellan Foundation in the USA
(www.maclellan.net) has allowed Jesus
Freaks International e. V. a so-called
Matching Grant. The foundation will
donate 50.000 €, if JFI e. V. manages to
get hold the half on their own, that is
25.000 €. Facing the current financial
situation we could really use this money.
So the directorate asks for prayer
and contacts to wealthy people.
The Sick Messenger wants a new
logo. Please send us your design in
black and white (as ai-, eps-, jpg-,
pdf-, psd- or tif-file) till 3.3.08. The
winning logo will decorate the cover
from No. 2/2008 on. More details:
